Pastor Pat Berger

Parish Associate The Rev. Patricia Berger HR

Pat began coming to Plymouth to fill in when Pastor David Hutchinson went on sabbatical. When Pastor Hutchinson retired, she was our Bridge Pastor until our interim pastor came. Since then, she has filled in as needed, leading worship and classes, attending meetings and calling on members.

Right out of high school, Pat started teaching church school. After a few years, she also got to be church school superintendent, to lead youth groups, teach adult education classes, and lead retreats. She was ordained as a ruling elder while in college, and began to have opportunities to lead worship.

At the age of 50, it seemed to her and her family that it was time for her to go to seminary. They bought a home in Seattle, and Pat commuted to the School of Theology and Ministry at Seattle University.

She was ordained on her 60th birthday, and served at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Gresham (another fabulous congregation) for ten years, when she retired.

Since then, she has filled in when churches have needed a substitute worship leader, and volunteered at SnowCap Community Charities and in schools in Hillsboro (where she lives) and Wilsonville. Now, she is honored to have been asked to serve as Parish Associate at Plymouth, and it is a joy!

Pat’s husband Wayne died 12 years ago. She has two wonderful grown sons, Matt and Josh. Matt lives with Pat; Josh and his wife Amy live and work in Wilsonville and are the parents of two stunning granddaughters, Samantha and Audrey. She is blessed!
